As I visit our campuses across the district I’m always encouraged by the positive messages and quotes I see displayed in classrooms, auditoriums, hallways, even bathrooms. We in RIM have a “HEART FOR ALL” Here are some examples of the messages I’ve seen……Kindness Matters

Veronica McGilvery, Principal, Lake Arrowhead Elementary School

Two new additions at Lake Arrowhead Elementary are supporting student learning in unique ways. Our Outdoor Learning Classroom is an environment created and donated by our PTA. Not only are classrooms able to participate in outdoor science extensions—such as gardening, collecting data from the Weather Station, or repurposing water from rain collectors—they are able to gather in the outdoor classroom arena for any type of teacher-facilitated instruction. Mr. Zaeske’s class (shown in the picture) is focusing on a math lesson. Our other new addition is the STEM Lab that supports students in using the 21st-century learning skills along with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). Most of the focus will be on the integration of engineering, technology, and robotics. Our 5th-grade teacher, Mr. Warner, is working collaboratively with an MPH teacher in building a pathway from our elementary site to his physics program. Our students and teachers are passionate about supporting student learning in diverse and meaningful ways.
