Jenny Haberlin, Chief Business Official
Child Nutrition Services would like to give a big shout out to one of our vendors, Tina Gray from Smart Foods for sending us Teddy Bears to raffle for students who participated in school lunch. November’s featured menu item was “Popcorn Chicken with mashed potatoes.” Our featured items for the month of December will be Turkey & Gravy and Tacos. Please call our Child Nutrition office with any questions @ (909)336-0346. Have a great holiday week!
Business Services would like to wish you a safe and happy Thanksgiving Holiday. Enjoy your break! During the week while campuses are quiet, Our Maintenance staff along with our vendor partners will be working on much-needed concrete repair at Lake Arrowhead Elementary. In addition, two portables at Rim High School will have new carpet installed. We appreciate all our staff across the district and will see you on the 26th!
We had a request from a special needs student to get a ride in one of our old busses before it gets crushed as part of the AQMD program and CNG bus grant. The student has love of our busses and especially the older ones. He stops by transportation often just to say hi. Our transportation staff loves him! Transportation gave the students in his class a little field trip. They had a fun day!
Lauren Tovar, Principal, Valley of Enchantment Elementary School
Regular school attendance is part of student academic success and character development. The Rim of the World Unified School District has developed an incentive program called Every Day Counts to honor our students who meet 95% attendance or better for the trimester or semester. Valley of Enchantment honored our students who qualified for the Every Day Counts program with a rock painting activity. Each student received a certificate, had a snack, and had rock painting time with the principal. Thank you to our students and families for making attendance a priority.
Veronica McGilvery, Principal, Lake Arrowhead Elementary School
Elementary Teachers in every grade level at Charles Hoffman, Lake Arrowhead, and Valley of Enchantment are participating in an extensive Professional Development opportunity titled: G.L.A.D, (Guided Language Acquisition and Design). This California designated exemplary model of instructional strategies supports literacy acquisition of our English Language Learner students, as well as best practice for all students. G.L.A.D. assists with providing an equitable pathway to literacy and in closing the achievement gap. The United States Department of Education bestowed this model with the high distinction of “Program of Academic Excellence.” This professional development model provided Rim elementary teachers with two consecutive days of in-depth theory, research, and strategy focus during October, and will provide four additional consecutive days of observing the trainers utilize these strategies in an actual LAE classroom during the demonstration sessions in December.
