    Press Release

    Snow Day Make-ups

From Rim of the World Unified School District

    March 8, 2019

    From: Michelle Murphy, Superintendent

Currently, there are 6 days built in our calendar for snow and they have all been used. In fact, ROWUSD has used 7 days as of March 5, 2019. Staff and students will need to be at school in March and May. Our district calendar on our website has been updated for March and May to reflect the removal of all built-in snow days. We are not canceling Spring Break (April 1-5) or the Memorial Day Monday Holiday (May 27). We are now having student and staff days on the days scheduled for an extension of these breaks or holiday. To be very clear, there will be school on March 27-29 and May 23, 24 and 28. For the additional day or any more snow days, the district will be applying for a waiver from the state of California.  Please also visit our district calendar here for the most updated district information.

Thank you for making sure your student attends school on these snow days.

Our AVID Juniors have spent this week traveling by bus up the California coast, visiting and touring a dozen colleges (UCSB, UC Santa Cruz, CS San Luis Obispo to name a few) with two of their teachers. This is always an amazing experience for the students as they find colleges that they want to apply to in their senior year. This trip is paid for by Rim of the World Education Foundation with a donation from the families as well.

At the same time, our Shred Team took our State Finalist skiers and snowboarders to Shasta this week to compete with other students all over the state. They have had an amazing trip with their coaches and will return today!
