Rim of the World Unified has three priorities

    1. Increase student learning and support professional development.
    2. Facilitate safe and positive school climate.
    3. Engage families and the community.

This week our superintendent, Michelle Murphy, presented a workshop for teachers entitled Time to Teach. This same workshop will be repeated next week so other interested teachers may attend. The workshop focused on facilitating positive classroom environments, reducing classroom disruptions and negative behaviors to increase “Time to Teach” and student learning. Lots of great ideas and resources were shared. This supports our priorities of increasing student learning, professional development and a safe, positive school climate.

LAE would like to highlight the public release of the California Dashboard data, and our school’s focus on continuous improvement. Our ELA achievement scores in grades 3-5 increased 15.1 points and Math achievement scores in grades 3-5 increased 3.5 points—moving us from orange to yellow on both Academic Performance Indicators. LAE improved under the Academic Engagement Chronic Absenteeism indicator, decreasing 4.9% moving from red to yellow. Our Conditions and Climate Suspension Rate indicator also decreased by 1%, moving from green to blue. We honor and celebrate our students and staff who remain focused on creating a climate conducive for educating the whole child.
