Jenny Haberlin, Chief Business Official, Rim of the World Unified School District
The district transportation department would like to remind our community to please stop your vehicle when approaching a bus with red flashing lights. It’s the law and keeps our staff and children safe. We are having too many instances where cars are not stopping when the red lights are flashing. We appreciate your help in keeping the students and staff safe! Thank you!
The district is holding a class for substitute bus drivers starting on March 16, 2020. The training is paid for by the district, but there are some costs associated with obtaining your license.
The specialized training consists of the following:
- Minimum of 20 hours of classroom instruction. You must attend all classes to continue in the training program. The class consists of bus laws, regulations, defensive driving practices, student loading & unloading, and more. All training will be conducted by a state-certified instructor.
- Minimum 20 hours of behind the wheel training. The district will provide the vehicle for training and the driving test with CHP. Passing a pre-employment drug test is required prior to operating a safety-sensitive vehicle. The location, fees, and appointment provided by the District.
- You must obtain a Commercial Learner Permit (CLP) prior to behind the wheel training.
