Degrees and Certifications:
I have been teaching in the Rim of the World Unified School District for over 20 years. I started at LAE in the 5th grade as a long term substitute. The next year I was hired as a full time teacher and taught 1st grade at VOE for 4 years. I transferred to CHE after 4 years to be closer to where I live. I have taught 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade here at CHE.
I grew up in Glendora and then attended UCIrvine for an undergraduate degree in Social Ecology. In the summers I worked in Yosemite National Park. After my undergrad I worked in London, England, and surrounding areas for 6 months. Next, I bicycled through Europe for another 2 months. After Europe I went to live in Maine for 6 months and worked at a state agency for developmentally delayed adults. This was a really rewarding job. In the spring I came back to Southern California, and by fall I was in the Teacher Credential program at UCIrvine. I moved up to the mountains in the fall of 1991 and began working at ROWUSD. Within a few years I had my Master's Degree in Special Education.
When I am not teaching I enjoy racing sailboats in Newport Beach and beyond. My other passion is rockclimbing. I love to be outdoors and am often camping whenever possible. I am very fortunate to be able to work and play in our beautiful mountain community.
