Email Access/Setup

  • Email access will be limited during the week of Jan. 2 - Jan 6.  During this migration, all email mailboxes will be migrated to the free Microsoft Office 365 cloud service. please read this information carfully.

    Starting tomorrow morning, I will start migrating your email accounts to our new service.  Currently, our email server is over 5 years old and is in need of major upgrades.  These upgrades can be very costly to the district.  We have chosen a free route through Microsoft Education.  This route will allow us to migrate all email accounts to the cloud. You, the end user will not see any difference on how your email is sent and received, email accounts will still be the same.

    After your migration is complete, you can also login to https://login.microsoftonline.com . You will use your school credentials for your username and password.

    Migration order:

    RHS - Jan. 3
    MPH - Jan. 4
    LAE/CHE Jan. 5
    VOE - Jan. 6

    There are a few steps that must be done related to accessing email if you use an iPhone and Android device.  We will be updating to the newest Exchange 2016 Online, Apple/Google forces new encryption policies on your phones.  Since our current version of Exchange 2010 does not use Apple/Android encryption, the server link will be broken.  You must delete your current Exchange/Corporate account and add a new account.

    Here are the steps for the upgrade if you are on a campus on an iPhone AFTER the day your school is migrated.

      1. Go to Settings
      2. Wi-Fi
      3. Choose the guest account at your school, rhsguest, mphguest.....
      4. Go back to Settings
      5. Mail
      6. Accounts
      7. Click on your school account
      8. At the bottom of the window, delete the account (your emails will not be deleted, just the account)
      9. Click on Add Account
      10. Click on Exchange
      11. Type your email
      12. Type your password
      13. Type in a description such as RIMSD Email
      14. Click next
      15. Choose what to sync
      16. Click Save
      17. Your new account has been added

       It will take your phone 1-5 minutes to sync with the new servers.

       

    If you are offsite, do these steps:

      1. Go to Settings
      2. Mail
      3. Accounts
      4. Click on your school account
      5. At the bottom of the window, delete the account (your emails will not be deleted, just the account)
      6. Click on Add Account
      7. Click on Exchange
      8. Type your email (firstname_lastname@rimsd.k12.ca.us)
      9. Type your password
      10. Type in a description such as RIMSD Email
      11. Click next
      12. Choose what to sync
      13. Click Save
      14. Your new account has been added
