Welcome Back to School
"EVERY CHILD, EVERY DAY"
It is this time in August when we begin to prepare ourselves for returning to LAE and welcoming a new group of students and families into classrooms. My heart is always happy to see our campus abuzz with activity. I wish to welcome our returning students and staff, as well as our new TEAM members! You have become part of a community that is caring and passionate for what they do. As the principal, I feel blessed to serve LAE's students, families, staff, and the community.
Our school motto is “Every Child, Every Day!” I am reminded of this quote, “The best part of teaching is that it matters. The hardest part about teaching is that every moment matters every day.” The word “parenting” can also fit here. We strive to let each child know they matter. I view parents as an invaluable part of LAE’s TEAM that supports every child.
Your child’s success is also dependent on your actions.
- Please support your child’s classroom teacher. Positive and proactive communication is critical.
- Your child’s attendance is important! Invaluable learning experiences are acquired every day. Students with 95% attendance at the end of each trimester will be recognized through the Superintendent's Every Day Counts program. LAE will also be recognizing students with 100% attendance--no instructional minutes lost!
- I also encourage parents to give the gift of time and volunteer on campus. LAE classrooms and PTA welcome your strengths and time to help bring positive experiences to our students.
As a staff, we continue to focus on the attributes of a High Performing School, implementation of standards, high-impact evidence based instructional strategies, and PBIS. Our dedicated teachers are incorporating technology in a meaningful way and NGSS focused STEM programs. We have many more wonderful programs at our site. I encourage you to go through our website, and our new LAE School Brochure to learn more!
Please check our website frequently. It is built to be a useful tool for parents--our school calendar, suggested supply lists, and updated information will be found here. Please be certain to access your child's Aerie's account through the Parent Portal for "Data Confirmation." My Mealtime--a student lunch account and Reduced & Free Meal Application--can be accessed here as well. This needs to occur prior to your child checking out school library books and attending fieldtrips. Again, I am truly looking forward to meeting every one of you.
