• The Rim of the World Unified School District and Valley of Enchantment Elementary School are committed to maintaining and inclusive school environment that promotes equity and respect for all students, staff, and parents.  Our curriculum and school activities are designed to provide daily and monthly learning experience around tolerance, equity, respect, and integrity.

     

    Some of the programs/activities that are part of this effort include:

    • Principal’s Morning Messages
      • Mini character development lessons that include quotes and scenarios that classes can discuss as a group
    • PBIS
      • One of our school-wide expectations for all stakeholders is to “Be Respectful”
      • Behavioral matrix describes the respectful behavior we expect of our students in various campus locations
    • Peaceful Playgrounds
      • Recess games and activities that promote equity and respect during free play
    • Red-Ribbon Week
      • Promotes self-respect by outlining decisions that contribute to a healthy lifestyle
    • Curriculum/Lessons
      • Multicultural texts- Fiction and Nonfiction
      • Texts related to respect, diversity, equity, tolerance, manners, etc.
    • Rim Family Services
      • SS (Social Skills) Grin is a program that meets weekly to develop social skills and address other issues in small groups
    • Restorative Justice
      • At the elementary level this includes guiding questions for student reflection regarding concerning behavior
    • “Not in Our School” Program
      • Elements of the program are utilized when addressing situations related to bullying, respect of others and tolerance
    • Early Act Clubs
      • Students in grades 3-5 have the opportunity to participate in service clubs that collaborate with the local Rotary Club
