Jennifer Whiteside, Principal, Mary Putnam Henck Intermediate School MPH had a wonderful guest teacher/clinician on March 6th, Jerry Lees. Mr. Lees was the band director at Rim High for 13 years and has spent the last several years working with middle and high school bands throughout the state. It was a pleasure having our 7th/8th grade band perform three pieces for him as he observed, and then he worked with the students for over an hour and a half. He helped them improve on all the pieces and expanded upon advanced musical concepts like phrasing and articulation. The kids had a great time during this "private festival" which bands usually pay for and travel to. We are very thankful to Mr. Lees for donating his time and talent to our kids and our community!
On Saturday, March 2nd, 2019 MPH students attended the STAR – Saturday Tutoring Attendance Recovery – Saturday School and participated in an exciting STEAM project, requiring physics and mechanics. This Rube Goldberg project involved creating a contraption that had 6 moving mechanical parts that used Newton's Laws of Physics to pop a balloon.
