The Hour of Code is a movement to introduce students around the world to computer science. It takes place during Computer Science Education Week, December 3-9 in 2018.

The Hour of Code is organized by, a nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to computer science and increasing participation by women and underrepresented minorities. Since the movement began, 10 percent of all students in the world have participated. With the invitation for the entire school to try Hour of Code this year, second graders at Charles Hoffman Elementary School took the leap and found they could program a game!  And look at those smiles of success.  While it might seem impossible that a child can write the code to manipulate characters on a screen, first and second graders at CHE this year demonstrated to their teachers that they are ready for it.
