Rim Working to Bring Back Adult Education
In an effort to ensure adult education returns to our mountain communities, Rim of the World Unified’s Superintendent, Dr. Paul Sevillano, took the first steps to make this a reality. By joining the Inland Adult Educational Consortium, it opens up new program & funding opportunities for our Rim communities. Imagine a world where Rim adults can work on their GED without having to leave the mountain. Imagine a world where adults seeking to change careers have the option to pursue a welding certification at night, right at Rim of the World High School? By bringing back adult education, the possibilities are endless for our community.
About Inland Adult Educational Consortium
“The school district members of the Inland Adult Education Consortium help adults in the San Bernardino region learn the academic and employment skills needed to improve their job opportunities and set new career goals. Through our network of community colleges, school districts, adult schools, adult education community providers, and workforce development and social services partners, we connect adults to educational programs that empower them to overcome past challenges, gain in-demand skills, and increase their earning capacity, contributing to the overall economic health of our region.”
Outcome
The Board of Trustees unanimously approved Resolution #23/24-21 at the June 27, 2024, Board Meeting in Open Session. This resolution approves Dr. Paul Sevillano, Superintendent, to serve as an official voting representative on the Executive Committee of the Inland Adult Education Consortium Executive Committee (San Bernardino Community College District Consortium). This resolution will support the following District Goal:
1 – Student Learning
2 – College and Career Readiness
